this is taken from dr charles's blog...
coz i thot this is absolutely cute :)

this is how a normal butterfly needle looks like ! its a 23G vacutainer !!
say butterfly needle to any hospital stuffs..
and they'll show you this !!

according to dr charles's blog..
The needle is one of the most feared intruments in medicine.
While some people have no problem with blood draws,
others suffer from phobic avoidance..
or fainting spells at the mere thought of being jabbed.
Children often become hysterical at the first mention of needles,
while some adults will avoid the doctor's office altogether.

A new study out of the University of New Mexico showed that..
if needles are decorated, they produce less traumatizing effects.

Such decorations likely interfere with an established link..
between visual recognition of a perceived threat..
and the subsequent emotional response to that threat, the study suggested.
Needles, syringes and IV bags decorated with musical notes, flowers,
and smiley faces were highly favored by patients, the researchers said

The decorative needles were found specifically..
to reduce needle aversion in patients by 68%, fear by 53% and anxiety by 53%.

so good hor??
so this is how a decorated butterfly needle would look like..
so pretty and cute hor..

and i think..
if singapore was to import such needles..
i'm sure, Alexander Hospital would definitely be the first !!
the first hospital to use such cutesie and fun needles..
i cant wait !!!
i wanna work in Alexander Hospital next time !!
