its 810am in the morning.
i just got home from the fire station.

i totally enjoyed my ambulance run !!
maybe becoz i was lucky - we had 6 calls last night!!
and the cases just got better and better, more eggciting, each time !!

but firstly, i must thank my super nice medic and paramedic.
my medic especially.
he's called mr yong jin feng, but lets call him mr teddy for short.
i like mr teddy so :)
mr teddy's really nice and cute !!
he's alwaes taking care of me, explaining everything to me !!

when i reported at 9pm,
he showed me around the fire station campus.
and even prepared a room for me in the sleeping area.
yar, and we just kept talking bout all his scary experiences.
they were once, called to a house with a decomposing body !!
the body was really smelly and it had maggots and its was super edematous !!
and once, this person committed suicide by jumping off his flat,
oh so scary, his whole body spilt into many parts !!
and the paramedic and medics had to pick them all up !!

but yar, mr teddy rocks my socks !!
he'll prepared gloves for me.
make sure those violent patients dun attack me.
offered his seat when i complained that sitting sidewaes made me nausea.
and alwaes explaining everything to me !!
very good :)

so now, let me blog bout my 6 cases !!

920pm - first call !
a 23year old chinese man, involved in a road traffic accident.
his accident caused a massive jam on CTE.
the traffic jam lasted till 1130pm !
traffic tailed back all the wae to orchard-havelock road there !!

so, this was wad happened.
mr motorcyclist was riding really close to taxi - maybe tailgating.
suddenly taxi stepped brake.
and poor mr motorcyclist couldnt stop in time.
his bike slammed into the taxi's left rear light.
and poor mr motorcyclist flew over the taxi and rolled for 1metre !

his upper limbs were bleeding due to multiple sites abrasion.
his right lower limb was damaged !!!
it was a closed fracture, the mid-shaft of his right femur was broken !!
and also, he dislocated his right knee joint.
i dunno how to describe,
but is entire right leg looked so super deformed and edematous!!
also, he had a cervical spine sprain and was complaining of neck pain !!

looked so bloody painful :(

we drove him to tan tock seng (TTSH)
its the nearest hospital !!
and guess who i bumped into?
i bumped wengster !!
she had also sent in her diabetic foot patient.
her patient was sitting in a bus, when someone realised that her foot was bleeding!!
bleeding from a previous poorly-healed wound !

ok, so on the wae back to the fire station,
we suddenly received another call !!
we quickly made a U-turn and headed to amk ave 3.


1040pm - 2nd call !
the patient was a newly diagnosed COPD patient.
he was watching tv when suddenly, he suffer chest tightness and SOB !!
talking to him was fun coz he had almost everything !!
he had a past medical history of
1. Diabetes mellitus
2. Hypertension
3. Hypercholesterol
4. Asthma
5. Triple bypass - CABG
6. Peripheral arterial disease
7. Chronic renal failure
and possibly more !!

althou he was already 76years old.
he was really knowledgable bout his many many medical conditions.
and he knew each and every drug he took, by heart.
so it was quite fun discussing drugs with him.
coz its like mini revision for me.

but one thing, he complained of..
despite his proper inhalation technique,
plus he washes and gargles his mouth 3times after every inhalation.
he still gets fungal infection in his buccal cavity very very frequently.
he described it as oral thrush.
plus he's been in and out of hospital many time due to his pneumonia.

1210am - 3rd call
the patient was a middle age indian lady.
she went drinking and came home drunk.
suddenly, she collapsed and was SOB !

when we arrived, she was floppy and non-responsive.
after carrying her onto the stretcher,
she suddenly turned violent and kept swinging her arms around !
she admitted to be irritated and claimed that they were making her mad.
she complained that the voices in his head was making her get headache !!
please stop it ! please shut up ! i'm so angry, i'm going to slap you !!
she screamed at me thou i wasnt even talking to her.
she suddenly reached out and nearly slapped me while we were riding back to ttsh.
lucky mr teddy saved me !!
she also tried to hit him but lucky he managed to stop her.
he quickly exchange seats with me so that he could restrain her better.
plus, so that i'll be further awae from her.

after awhile, she suddenly sober up and kept apologising to me bout that incident.
den she started talking to mr teddy bout her family members.
and she just started crying non-stop.
i miss my sister. i dunno. maybe i killed her. she made me. she asked for it.
and she just went on and on.. and cried like crazy !!

i suspected she was schizophrenia.
and true enough.
i clerked her husband, and she's such a poor thing.
she was diagnosed with schoizophrenia and was receiving treatment at AH.
unfortunately, they ran out of money
(they stay in a one-room flat and have a lot of debts)
so he decided to stop her anti-pyschotics last month.
and recently, she's been gettin all her symptoms again.
auditory hallucation, thought insertion, etc.
and to help herself cope, she would usually drink and get drunk.
so sad right?

oh yar, and this time.
i bumped into lenith in ttsh.
his patient was admitted for high fever.
lenith was sian coz his case was boring.
hahahaha.


330am - 4th call !
alpha 323 to ang mo kio blk 630 !! there is a dead body !!
we were freaked and hurried over as soon as possible !!

when we got there, there was a body lying at the foot of the block.
it was motionless, many people had gathered around it !
they were speculating that maybe he had jumped off the flat while drunk.

the paramedic knelt beside him to check his vitals.
hello mister, are you okae?
next moment, the dead guy's eyes open !!
everyone was so shocked we jumped back !!!

yuanlai, it was a sleepy drunken who decided to just sleep on the streets !!
quite gross.
coz he peed, forgot to zip his pants and slept by his pee.

wad a silly and waste time call.
but it was quite a scary moment.
everyone really thot he was dead !!!


545am - 5th case!!
the patient was a 34year old chinese lady.
she was reported to be having seizures.
by the time we got there, she was fine already.

her husband claimed that she had gone to the bathroom to shit.
suddenly he heard a sound and rushed over.
apparently, she had fallen off the toilet seat and was convulsing on the floor!!
the seizure lasted for 1min and then, he quickly carried her out.

so we still sent her to ttsh for overnight observation and investigations.
she had no known history of epilepsy.
the interesting part is, her husband is supposed to be some rich/famous guy.
the medics saw his pictures in the frontpage of those business mags.
oh, i dunno.


and the last and absolutely best case !

650am - 6th case !
alpha 323 to ang mo kio blk 630 again !?!!
we immediately thot, it must be that same dead guy again !!
but wrong !!
this time, it was a 34year old indian man.

when we got to the kopitiam, everything look normal.
except, the entire floor was covered with thick red, coagulated blood !!
there was a long trail.
from the road side, to the pavement, to the entire kopitiam stretch.

and finally, the body.
it was lying in a pool of coagulated blood, in front of some empty store.
a man, lying there.
both his wrist was almost chopped off.
his right radial head was sticking out of the wound.
the tip of radial head was chopped off, the bone marrow was exposed.
his flesh was flapping, and he was covered with damn alot of blood !!!

also, his scalp was chopped, he was bleeding non-stop.
on turning him around, his tee was sliced.
we cut over his tee, and found a couple more slash wounds.
very scary indeed, i've never seen so much blood before !
i think its at least 2litres of blood in lost !!

i went to speak to some withnesses.
according to the kopitiam auntie,
that guy came to her store to buy a pack of cigarette.
den he left, walked to the roadside to hail a cab.
suddenly, out of nowhere, 2 unidentified man attacked him with parangs.
they tried to whack his head/skull but he used his hand to shield himself
after hacking his arms/wrist, they whacked again, and this time, finally got his head.
the guy quickly turned around and run back towards the kopitiam.
maybe thats how he got the back wounds too.
he ran thru the entire kopitiam stretch, den he started losing conscious and collapsed !

and becoz he was bout 100kg, it took our 3 paramedics plus 3 policeman.
to transfer him to the stretcher, lift it up and bring him to the ambulance.

oh reaching ttsh, the nurses went
another one? also indian? also kena parang??
yuan lai, his brother was also attacked and was admitted 10mins before him.

at A&E, his bp kept dropping.
from 140/80 in the ambulance, to 110/60 and den to 80/40
his heart beat kept going up.
from 80 in the ambulance, to 90 and den to 100++.
so scary.

but in the end, the doctors managed to sedate him.
examine his wrist and sent him off for imaging.
i hope he's okae now !!

oh, wad an eggciting night !
i cant wait for ambulance run again, next mondae !!
mr teddy said more suicide cases occur in the dae.
i cant wait.
too bad, he's off that dae.
