oh my goodness, i think i've got OCD.
i was so irritated by the fact that the blue wallet was not perfect,
that i had to make another one !!
i got a yellow roll of duct tape to design the blue wallet,
but ended up using it to make another wallet !
this time, to make a new, improved version of the wallet.

and i'm very very please to present it to you :)
this time, i've added a new piece of transparency,
the wallet closes more nicely, the slots are prettier,
and the edges of the wallet is nicely apposed.

yayness anus. i'm so pleased with myself :)

i ordered a duct tape wallet from vintagevantage.com, it was really cute and i was inspired to make one myself !!

and so i went to buy some duct tape to make wallets :) inspected and made some measurement of the wallets, before attempting to make it !

i feeling damn shitty now.
cookie's making me really worried and sad.
he chewed up my entire laptop wire yesterday.
and i scolded him really loudly and hit him 3 time.
now, i dunno if he's in shock, or he hates me,
or that he is sick from eating the rubber insulations on the wires.
his behaviour is totally abnormal, not at all like his usual self.
he doesnt hop around at all, all he does is hide at one corner,
not even his usual corner even.
judy said he havent been eating all day,
he dint even eat his favourite yogurt treats i fed him.
he doesnt have any broken bones or any injuries.
but why is he behaving like this.
he's like an entirely different rabbit altogether !
oh, i'm feeling so terrible now :(

i liked udaipur best among all the cities i visited in rajasthan,
because udaipur had an arty farty culture.
everywhere we went, there were beautiful murals painted on the walls,
even the toilet walls were really nicely decorated.
and there were many art shops selling indian paintings etc.

we even spent one evening watching an indian cultural performance, the dances werent that eggcited or anything, but i still enjoyed myself that night :)

we also made friends with the uncle at the art shop beside our hostel,
the next day, he invited us over to his place for lunch,
and he and his brother taught us how to make indian painting :)
jiayang also got himself a henna.
besides immensing ourselves in the arty farty culture of udaipur,
we did the typical touristy things and visited all the must-see places in udaipur.
like the famous lake palace, city palace and many more temples.

unfortunately, because it was mid-summer already,
the place was so hot that the famous lake pichola had dried it, leaving the lake palace looking like quite a joke. there were many locals playing cricket on the lake which has turned into a field.
weng and i couldnt help but snap a picture with us standing in the lake too !!
one of the highlights was the trip was the journey down from the monsoon palace !!
the monsoon palace is sited on a hill,
and we had to take an auto rickraw up to palace !
the road up to the palace was really steep and scary,
on the way up, the engine sounded like it was going to die !!
fortunately, we managed to get up to the palace in one piece and took many pictures :)
however, on the way down, the engine/clutch of the rickraw suddenly died on us,
and we ended up zooming down the slopes at great speed,
and before we knew it, we crashed into a tree.
everything happened so quickly, that i dint even realised anything wrong,
until the driver shouted at us to jump off the car,
and before we knew it, we had already crashed into tree!
oh, thankgoodness we crashed into a tree,
instead of flying off the cliff and falling to our death.
oh, what a scary but fun experiece !

yesterday, i learnt something new about my friends,
the friends that i've known for more than 10 years !

this is what laurene, mellow and i have in common,
1. our mothers are peranakans, so we're half-peranakans.
2. we're not allowed to eat beef at home.
and we never realised this until last night.
so shocking.

laurene was so pleased with herself for making those observations.
"yay, no wonder we're such good friends !!"
oh, we definitely have more in common than just that,
but anywae, i'm so happy to have such wonderful friends like laurene and mellow :)

i promised mimi that i would blog about the entire india trip,
so today, before we start school on monday,
i shall try to finish up my blog entry about the last few days in india.

so after touring jaipur for 2days,
we took an overnight train to jodhpur, the blue city.
unlike jaipur, the pink-but-now-look-like-orange city,
jodhpur is indeed a blue city !
the indian love to colour-code their houses.
blue house = house that belongs to a brahmin.
and because there are many many brahmins staying in jodhpur,
jodhpur is indeed a blue city.

ok, do i make sense?

i shall not bore you with uninteresting pictures,
because in rajasthan = jaipur + jodhpur + udaipur,
all the main tourist attractions are forts and city palaces.
the forts are where the maharajahs stayed in during the war time,
and then, there would be a palace within the fort,
which would have been converted into a museum, for us tourist to visit.
and then, there would be a city palace for the maharajah to live in,
when there's peace and no war.
and again, the city palace have been be converted into a musuem for us.
so, its pretty boring, and everything really look alike after awhile.
oh, occasionally, there would be local temples and clock towers to visit.

char and i made cutesie tees with the printing blocks i got from india ! our tees dint turn out as cutesie as expected, but it was really fun !
i like painting tees with char :)

we made an elephant-print tee shirt for judith.
she suddenly came down with a bad bout of diarrhoea after drinking milk.
poor judith, hope she gets well soon.

we wanted to print white elephants on the pink tee,
but it didnt turn out very nicely,
and so we decided to do a second time with red instead. oh well, shud have done it in red right from the start.

and we decided to make giraffe-print tees for ourselves.
i wanted a make BIG giraffe with my mini giraffe stamp,
but it dint look like a giraffe in the end.
char loves giraffes, so she decided to make a heart with the stamp.
and yes, it turned out pretty nicely.
oh, tee shirt painting is fun :)

day 2 in jaipur was not as fruitful as we expected,
mostly because the terrible heat was getting to us.
our mood was horrid, and we felt sweaty and sticky all the time.
we bathe on average twice a day, sometimes even 3times !!
but after leaving the bathroom, even after showering with cold water,
we still managed to break out in sweat almost immediately.
and because of that, we cancelled many of our plans,
spending most part of the day relaxing at the local coffee house.

first stop was to the hawa mahal.
in the past, women are forbidded from stepping out in public,
and so, the maharajah built this viewing tower,
for the ladies in the palace to hide behind,
and view the city from behind these walls.
yeah, nice-looking building.
on our way to the next stop,
we bumped into an uncle with an ancient camera.
i think he was prolly bullshitting us but..
according to him, its one of the oldest cameras in the world.
the uncle said that his camera was used to take pictures of the royal family,
and has been the family heirloom for many years now.
he has been invited many times to take pictures of famous bollywood stars,
and a museum had even offered him 1million rupees for the camera. but whatever it is,
it was pretty fun taking "neoprint" with this ancient camera.
our picture turned out damn ugly, as expected,
but still, a fun experience anyhow !

next, we visited the only viewing tower in jaipur.
its supposed to be really tall, with fantastic view of the pink city.
the tower wasnt really that tall, but the view was pretty good :)
oh yes, jaipur is known as the pink city,
that was because in 1849, when india was still under colonial rule,
the town was ordered by the governor, to paint all their walls pink,
just to welcome prince edward/albert to jaipur.
anyway, the town looks more orange than pink now.

and the last stop before we retired for the day, was to the sun temple.
the sun temple is the only temple in india that worships the sun.
apparently, some monkeys made it their home a few years back,
and because of that, the temple is also famously known as the monkey temple.
many locals visit the temple to offer food to the monkeys for good karma. we also bumped into many white holy cows on the way up to the temple.
oh, jaipur is a really nice place :)

oh, i'm in such a terrible mood now !!
i can classify this is one of the worst day of my life :(
i'm like $450 poorer, just in one afternoon.

$200 from the bloody red light i beat.
you know, i had the "shud i go or not go" moment,
so i was braking but not braking enough, going but quick enough.
and at the final moment, when the car reached the white line,
the lights turned red !!
and because i was prolly going at 50km/h at least,
i couldnt possibly stop in time, so i just went.
next moment, i saw double flashes !!
i turned around to check if there were any cars behind, NO !!
so sian, kena red light camera :(
its a fine of $200 plus 12 demerit points.
sucks.

what a foolish moment !
why did i even comtemplate dashing when i saw the amber light?
argh.
so angry with myself for making such a foolish and preventable mistake !!!

and the other $250 is from my bike.
because i dint ride it for 2months,
and so the clutch plate kinda got rusty and got clogged up.
the mechanic explained that it was a common problem among vintage bikes,
but as long as you run the engine on a regular basis,
den the problem wont happened.
he said that if i had told my dad to help me start the engine every morning,
and keep it running for about 2-3min, this wouldnt happen.
oh horrid !
again, money wasted when this problem could have been easily prevented.

oh, i'm so angry with myself today.
boohoo.

oh no, my sleeping hours are totally screwed up.
because delhi is 2hours30mins behind singapore time,
i tend to sleep at 2-3am every night now.
really bad for the eye(bags) and complexion man.

but on the flip side,
i get to spent alot of time with my bunnies.
they're usually most active around 12-2am,
so i get to see them hop alot, play with them, and feed them treats !!
oh, i love my cutesie bunnies so :)

after spending a fantastic week in manali,
we came back, took a day off in delhi to rest our butts from the 14hour bus ride,
before heading out to discover more of india again.
this time, we visited rajasthan, the western side of india.

compared to manali, rajasthan was terrible.
as it is mostly made up of deserts and sand dunes. it was very hot and humid, between 40-45degrees,
but also, really dry and sandy at the same time.
in summary, manali rocks.
hahahahha.

we visited 3 cities in the state of rajasthan.
first stop was jaipur, den jodhpur and finally udaipur.
jaipur is well known as one of the points in the golden triangle.

you know, everyone says that when you visit north india,
you must visit the golden triangle,
delhi, the capital of india,
agra, where the famous taj mahal is,
and last but not least, jaipur.
these 3 cities were where the famous maharajahs lived and left their legacy,
and therefore, historically very significant and are must-visits !!

don and doug joined us for the first day in jaipur,
they went back to delhi after that,
while jiayang, wengo and i continued our journey to jodhpur and udaipur.

first stop in jaipur was to the famous amber fort.
amber fort was built by some famous maharajah.
he visited china and was inspired by the great wall of china,
and so, when he got back to india,
he built a mini great wall of india in jaipur.
its really quite like similar to the great wall of china,
just that the walls of amber fort is only 12km around the maharajah's palace.
the fort also contain the maharajah's palace.
the palace was well known for its maharajah's summer and winter rooms.
apparently, the maharajah had advanced technology for his time,
and designed the rooms in a manner such that in summer,
the room would remain cool due to a mini stream that passes through it,
and in winter, the walls lined with mirrors help to maintain warmth.
we also visited the maharajah's city palace.
i guess, its for him to stay there in spring and autumn,
since he spends his winters and summers at the amber fort.
next stop was to the jantar mantar. its a really cool place !!
from the outside, the park looks like its full of weird structures that doesnt make sense.
but actually, these structures are useful astrological devices.

as the maharajah was into astrology,
he sent 5 of his smartest scholars aboard to learn the art of astrology.
and when they came back, they built 5 of such parks in india.
among all 5 parks built, this park was the biggest and best preserved. its really cool because till today, all this weird-looking structures can still work.

and one of the highlight is this huge sun clock,
it can tell the time, accurate to 2secs !! its in the guinness book of records !!

yes indeed, minus the heat, jaipur is pretty awesome !

the skii trip was the highlight of the trip to manali,
in fact, to me, it was the highlight of my entire holidae to india.
i guess its really pretty cool to tell people,
I'VE GONE SKIING IN INDIA !
and no one will believe me until i show them the pictures !

in fact, this was my reaction when dehan first jio-ed us to manali,
he told us that we could skii there,
and we were like
"dun bullshit lah, we have never heard of anyone going to india to skii."
hahahahah.
oh, i'm glad we did believe him in the end.
the skii trip was really fun :)

the trip up to the skii camp started with a 30mins car ride up the mountain. the scenery up the mountain was super beautiful,
i couldnt stop snapping pictures out of the car. i think by the time we got to the foot of the mountain,
i had already taken more than 20 shots of the scenery.
yums.

the view at the foot of the mountain was even better !
we couldnt stop taking pictures !! and we took many jumping shots too,
because the background was too lovely to be true !
look at denise's jumping shot, she looked like she was skydiving ! so cool !

at the foot of the mountain, we were told that the car couldnt bring us up any higher,
and that we had to do a 3hour trek up the mountain to get to the skii camp. can you see us?
all the smallie-molly people at the bottom of the picture !

at first, i thot it was a piece of cake,
turned out, this 3hour trek is like the most difficult trekking route ever !
even the guys who had climbed mount kinabalu said that this was 10times harder.

in the beginning, we were all very happy and eggcited bout skiing,
we even stopped for many photo moments,
like when we saw some goats, and then some horses and cows too !
but towards the end of trek, we were all super tired.
plus the trek route became more difficult as we ascended,
with super steep slopes, ice-covered ground which were slippery as hell,
and if you slipped and fell, you would be sliding all the way down the cliff,
and falling to your death !! and we even had to jump across a river/stream,
failing which, you'll fall into the river and get washed off the cliff. so freaking scary !!

at one point, as i was climbing up, and crossing the river/icy path,
i was like "darn, why did i ever sign up for such a dangerous skii adventure?"
"its so not worth it, i better not slip and fall to death man !!"
"OMG, even travel insurance would not cover death during adventure sports !"
boohoo, i was so freaking scared :(

but thankgoodness, we all survived the 3hour trek, and managed to get to the skii camp in one piece !!

at the skii camp, we were greeted by 2 very cutesie doggies.
the black one is balu, and the blondie is lalee. they were really naughty doggies,
they bunked in with me on both nights of the trip,
and because of them, i had very poor sleep.
they kept running in and out of my tent in the middle of the night,
and lalee kept lying/slumping onto me !!
but i still like them very much, esp lalee :)
anywae, we had a simple lunch, tried on our skiing equipment, before starting our 3 full days of skiing lessons.

i must say, skii is rather fun but really painful when it comes to falls. we were all happy and cheery at the start of the lesson,
the girls learnt skiing because it was easier, and the boys took up snowboarding because it was cooler. but after an entire day of falls, we were all sad persons,
with multiple bruises all over our body !!
and one of my complaints of this this skii trip was,
there was NO skii lift !!
so everytime we came down the slope,
we had to climb up the slope with our heavy equipment.
super tiring !!
the next time i try skiing, i'm so going to a resort with skii lifts !!

and also, when it came to night time,
it became super duper cold !!
plus most of us suffered altitude sickness.
and so, night times were alwaes very yucky and terrible !!
but overall, the skii trip was really fun,
and i enjoyed myself thoroughly !
skiing is fun :)

don's mum was telling us that some people get diarrhoea,
after they get back to singapore from india,
because the food here is too clean, and our stomach is not used to it.
and i dun believe its actually happening to me.
i'm having loose stools, but i dint eat anything bad !!

anywae, more on my adventures in india - manali day 2

after spending an entire day discovering manali,
we realised that manali is more of an adventure resort,
and so we decided to go paragliding at solang valley !

we took an cab to solang valley,
and look at the beautiful scenery ! really yums :)

to paraglide, we had to do a 30mins trek up a hill.
but being lazy people, we opted to take a donkey/mini-horse up instead. and i was really glad rode up instead of trekking.
the path up was scarily steep, plus it would be super tiring !
the 30mins donkey ride was quite an adventure on its own.
so fun !

finally, at the top of the hill.
we photowhored abit before putting on our gears,
and running, den jumping off the cliff to paraglide !
paragliding is really fun !
the view from the top was fantastic !!

its was a super fun experience !
wengo and denise took some videos of me taking off,
and i must admit, i'm a hum-ji person !!
hahaha, scream like crazy, scaredycat woman !!
shall not put up the videos, too embarrassing.
hahahahaha.

we also saw some people zorbing. and because it was really cheap, only $3 per person.
douglous and i finally plucked up the courage,
we came back to solang valley another day and zorbed. and yay ! we survived it without puking on each other.

i realised that i took many many pictures at manali !
so i've decided that i shall blog about it, a few days at a time.

the trip to manali was the best part of my holiday in india.
thats because, it was nothing like india at all.
the weather played the biggest part, it was fabulous !
although it was already mid-summer, the weather was between 20-25degrees.
and even with the sun shining up above, it was still really nice and cooling.

the people there were okay, most tried to cheat us, as usual.
and the food there was yums and cheap.
there was many many many yummy roadside food stalls, as well as many western restaurants that sold cheap yet delicious food !
and of course, the company was great !
we met up with muggy, denise, jianbang, dehan and pamela !

today, i shall blog bout the first day of the trip !

the journey began with a 14hour bus ride up to manali.
manali is located in north india, north to new delhi.
although it was only 550km away from new delhi,
the trip up to manali was really long because of the poor road conditions.
most parts of the road up was single lane,
and often times, we would get stuck in a terrible jam,
just because there were lambs and sheeps crossing the road.
but its was bus ride was made bareable because,
denise, muggy, jiayang and i spent our time singing songs and talking cock !! and it was really heelarious and fun !
hahaaha.

anywae, manali is really BEAUTIFUL !!
i took this shot while on the bus, its a picture of the river beas,
the biggest and most famous river that runs through manali.

when we got to manali town, we had yummy lunch at johnson's cafe,
and trek the entire of manali, old and new town, on foot.
yes indeed, manali is a really small town !
we explored almost the entire town on foot, in just one afternoon.
look at what we found on the way to old manali town. after passing through many noses, we confirmed that, yes indeed, it is weed !!
although smoking weed is prohibited in manali,
it is widely available, because its everywhere !!!
our skii instructor said that many of them would pluck the plants by the road,
and then they'll keep and dry them until its nice and smokable.

we also visited a little camping site beside the river beas, and spent the rest of the afternoon playing the river !! the water was really cold but the crazy boys and girls still jumped in to swim !!
after that we walked up to 2.5km to visit the manu temple,
before spending the evening shopping after dinner.
the view from the temple was fantastic !! yes indeed, manali is a super duper beautiful place :)

i love being back home in singapore.
my mood is super good whenever i come back from overseas.
it really makes me appreciate so many things we have here at home.
like, how much freedom i have with my own car.
how yummy the food here is, and how much my friends love me !!

this was mellow's and char's nick on msn. i was very delighted and touched when i saw it :)
oh, i felt super duper loved.

and the girls were really cute,
because it was the bunnies' birthdae yesterday,
they brought cookie and raisin to the airport to pick me up !!
kermin and jiayang came to fetch me too.
oh, i love my friends so :)

i miss the food in singapore so much,
that i've been stuffing myself with food ever since i got back.
we were late to chompchomp, most stalls were closed by 2am.
so we went to newton for bakchormee and satays instead.

and this morning, char and i had kuay chap, and yogurt at follick.
and char got many many tasty buns from some bakery in holland village,
which is absolutely yums.
and as i'm typing, i'm chomping down my favourite - unagi !!

we also managed to do many of our favourite activities.
like, playing with my fatty bunnies.
esp my favourite mama and papa buns - graham and tissue :)
and we went shopping for bunny necessities.
we went to holland village for graham's blankets,
that mother bun is so fussy with her waterbed !!
and then to amk and to serangoon north for more pet supplies.

oh, what a happy person i am !!
i love being home :)

this weekend, we took a 6hour train ride from new delhi to amritsar.

amritsar means "pool of holy nectar" in hindi.

we went there specially to visit the holy golden temple.

the golden temple is the largest temple in the world,

and it is said that many temples around the world,

including the many many hindi temples in singapore,

are modelled after this famous golden temple in amritsar.

first stop, to our hotel.

after yummy dinner, we headed off to the wagah border.

the wagah border is one of the 3 customs between india and pakistan.

because of the long history of animosity between the 2 nations,

the "closing the border" ceremony every evening is very eggciting !!

officers from both nations scorn at each other during the elaborate marching ceremony,

before lowering the national flags and closing the border gates.

it felt like a mini national day parade !!
there were super alot of indian supporters,

and everyone was chanting "long live india !!"

we headed down to the golden temple to see the "keeping of the holy book"

yes indeed, the golden temple looked awesome in the night !!
the golden temple is called the golden temple,
because more than half of it is made of out of pure gold !!!!

its really one of the most beautiful temples in the world !!

oh yar, we had to wear a headscarf because we were entering a holy temple !!
the golden temple is the holiest of holy hindi temple in the world !

at about 1030pm, we managed to witness the returning of the holy book !

every morning, the holy book is carried from its "home" into the golden temple,

where the priests take turns reading it for an hour each,

then, its returned after the entire book is read through.

next morning, we headed back to the golden temple again !

now, can you see why the golden temple is called the golden temple?

yes indeed, its very beautiiful !!

we also visited the famous free community kitchen !
the kitchens of the golden temple is opened 24hours a day, 365 days a year !
and they provide free vegetarian meals, for all 3 meals, to anyone who request for it.

apart from providing free meals to anyone and everyone,

the golden temple kitchen is also famous,

because it has the world's fastest chapati-making machine !
this machine makes up to 9000 chapatis in an hour !

and last stop was the world war memorial !

to commemorate the innocent lives lost during the world war.

we visited the famous Red Fort yesterday.
the Red Fort was built by the same Raj of India who built the Taj Mahal,
there is another fort in Agra which looks exactly like the Red Fort,
thats because the Raj was actually planning to move the capital from Agra to New Delhi.
unfortunately, he was imprisoned by his son before he managed to move the capital.

ok, enough history for now.

i had a bad dream last night,
dreamt that Hammy fell sick.
so horrid.

i'm pleased to know that char and my family have been taking really good care of the boys :)
my brother brought the boys to the park to play !
and a little puppy came to make friends,
thinking that the puppy wanted to attack the bunnies,
brave rayray bounced forward to scare the puppy away from cookie.
what a good brother bunnie he is :)
oh, i miss my honey bunnies so.

we went to the national rail museum yesterday.
it was only 200m away from the singapore embassy,
and the entrance fee was only 10rupees = sin 30cents.

an interesting fact bout the railway system in india,
it is the world's largest civillian employer !!

the museum was filled with many retro models of trains !

and of course, my favourite - jumping shots :)

this weekend, we drove up 6hours to rishikesh and haridwar.
went BROWN water rafting at rishhikesh,
and went to visit the famous holy river of ganges at haridwar.

this is the holy river of ganges !
the locals bathe here, swim here, cook here, wash their clothes here.
so scary unhygienic but its the holy water,
everyone that comes here usually takes home a bottle of holy water for good luck.

we visited the markets along the river and tried some local delights.

by evening time, the whole area was swamped with people !

apparently, there is a holy ceremony every morning and evening at 7am and 7pm,

where people all over india come over to this river to pray for good luck !

yes, its so crowded, we're like tin sardines.

we saw many locals sending their offerings in boats of flowers,

and decided to follow them and wish for good luck too.

what an amazing experience,

but i dun think i wanna go thru this again !

the crowd was scary !!

next morning, we went BROWN water rafting,

we had a super fun time !!

but too bad, we dint take any pictures,

because we scared our camera touch water and die.

oh, i like rafting.

cant wait to go up to manali for more rafting !

we had a fun weekend at rishikesh.
but i havent sorted out the pictures yet,
so i shall blog bout our food adventure at lajpat market !

hmm, feeling kinda lazy to blog these days,
so shall post alot of pictures with few words ok?
enjoy the pictures :)

we skipped school on friday and head out to lajpat market to shop !

shopping in new delhi is surprisingly pretty fun !
they have the usual fake nike, fake adidas and other stuffs.
but as many famous brands have their factories here in new delhi,
occassional, we do see some authentic branded stuffs here by the roadside stalls.
its like finding a needle in a hay stack,
but if you do managed to find those nice real pieces,
they can be as cheap as sin$3-4 per item !

there were super alot of roadside food stalls, as usual,
and after being in india for more than 2weeks,
we decided to be daring girls and boys, and try out the local delights !
the food were interesting-looking, but tasted so-so.
and all of us suffered mild diarrhoea over the weekend.

oh yar, the roadside food are really cheap here !!
most item cost between 10-20 rps, which is bout sin40-80cents !!
really very cheap indeed !

this is fried potato balls, with disgusting green "chilli" sauce.

the indians loves their "chilli" sauce,
they add it to every single dish.
i hate it, it taste funny.

this is the local biscuit !
i thot it was kinda tasteless,
but it went very well with our ice-cream & milkshake.

this is the most popular drink in new delhi !
its supposed to be lime juice with soda water,
the locals add masala (curry powder) to the drink for extra taste.
the drink is yummy, WITHOUT the masala powder !

this was the ultimate !
this is supposed to be the indian version of ice kachang !

this prolly gave us the delhi belly !

and yummy fruit juice and mango shake !

its the mango season in new delhi !

everywhere we go, we see super yummy mangoes !!

we have mango for desserts after every meal,

its really lovely :)

i tell you, its the bestiesty best mangoes i've ever eaten !!

after his morning rounds, muggy joined us for shopping and food at lajpat !

and next stop, to old delhi for guitar shopping !

we did some guitar shopping at old delhi,

i like this sweet treat !!

its really crispy and sweet at the same time !!

and this french toast totally rocks !!

and the last stall was another lime-juice stall.
this one was disgusting, the uncle added weird powder to the drink,

making it milky and limey at the same time,

really bad !

and for dinner, we met douglas - don's younger brother,

and he brought us to eat the yummiest kababs ever !

i tell you, its even better than the ones i had in turkey !!

so far, india has been almost opposite to all my expectations.
i thot i'll hate the indian curry, but its actually quite yums :)
i thot we'll be living in yucks conditions, but don's palace is the best !
i thot there would be zero shopping here, but its a shopper's paradise.
i thot i'll be learning alot here.. well, i'm still trying.

yesterday, there was a sand storm in new delhi !
it caused many places in new delhi to blackout.
its blacked-out twice in the hospital OT !
freaking scary, we were halfway through an operation.
thankgoodness, the hospital had a power generator to power-up the OTs.
but everywhere else was dark and scary, even the OT corridors.

we've been having a really slack time here at AIIMS.
we usually come at 830am for ward rounds, and then we go home after that.
oh well.

anywae, we visited the humayun's tomb this week.
its a really beautiful place !
apparently, it was built by the father/grand-father of the guy who built the taj mahal.
and therefore, the design of taj mahal was actually based on the designs of this tomb.
yes indeed, we managed to spot many similarities in both places !!

i just came home from the movies,

we watched Speed Racer today ! i must say its a really good movie !!

i liked it very much.

but heard that some people dint like the show much,

i guess you have to have some background knowledge bout the show,

we celebrated jenica's birthdae yesterday !!

we went to sarogini to buy punjabi,
jenica got a really nice punjabi attire,
the rest of us got funny-looking ones.
and we had a fun time fooling around in our punjabis !

and when the clock strike midnight,

we presented her with a SMILEY FACE lollipop !!

next morning, we left home early at 545am,

to head towards agra, where the taj mahal is !!

first time, to the famous taj view hotel.

according to don's parent's the taj view has the best view of the tal mahal,

and they charge at US$400-800 a night !

because we cant afford to stay there,

we decided to use their bathrooms instead.

first stop in agra was to visit the tomb of kabar !!

next, we went to visit the taj mahal !!

after visiting taj mahal,
we went to a shop that designs marble tables,

after our trip to agra,

we headed home to bathe before going out for yums dinner at nankings,

to celebrate jenica's birthdae !!

and don's parents treated us to BIG crabs and yums chocolate birthdae cake !

because we have been hardworking people !!

we had an early day today, decided to give ourselves a half-day.
we left after the M&M rounds, and after the grand ward rounds.
the tutors said to us, "you can do anything you wann, dun have to report to us"
and so we decided that since the weather today was fabulous,
we'll go tour a little !

we headed towards connaught place at old delhi,

connaught place is supposed to be the place where everything began.
the indians started building old delhi from connaught place outwards,
slowly by slowly, it because a BIG city.
and then, they decided that it was too old, so they moved to new delhi.

anywae, it was our 5th day in new delhi,
and we decided to be more adventurous by trying the roadside food !

first stop, fresh milk shake from the roadside !there was a long queue outside the stall,
and so, as kiasu singaporean, we decided to queue up for milk shake too.
turned out to be quite yums :)

and then, to WENGers to get some chocolates and desserts !!
wengo loves the place because its called WENGers :)

we also tried this weird dish which had potato wedges, cucumber and banana !
the guy fried everything together, and added some sour spice !

weird tasting, but still quite fun !

and tomato-flavoured cocopop crisps !

hahaha, thats what it taste like !

we saw a couple in eating it, and decided to try it after taking pictures with them !

and i must say, old delhi has damn alot of cheap books !!

they seem to sell everything here !

from medical books, to fiction novels, to self-help books,

to recipe books, to bibles, and all sorts of books !!

you name it, they'll prolly have it !!

and best thing, the books here are really cheap !

i got my oxford handbook of medicine in singapore for $47,

here, they sell the exact same thing for $13.

paulo coelho's books here are $10-13 for the real one,

and $4-6 for the fake, photocopied version !!

we woke up this morning, only to find this on the front page of the newspaper !yes indeed, this is india.

anywae, we went to the OT today.

i must say that after seeing the conditions in AIIMS,

i'm so glad to be working in singapore !

the place is really dirty and yucks !

and if anything bad happens to me in india,

please send me back to singapore to get treated !!
i rather die than to get treated in india !

here's the pile of scrubs gown we were supposed to change into,

when i first saw it, i thot it was a pile of used gowns,

apparently, they're the "clean" ones.

and here's where they throw the used gowns, behind the toilet door.

really terrible conditions here.

and look at the freaking ugly scrub gown !!

we all look like clowns in them !!

anywae, we decided to take an early day and go shopping!!

we visited the ONLY shopping mall in new delhi,

its pretty decent,

i would say its something like centrepoint mall.

we had some snacks, and then dinner,

before catching IRON MAN !!

oh, IRON MAN was fantastic !!

but the cinema was weird,

halfway thru the show, there was an intermission with popcorn ads.

so lame, and anti-climax.

today was the most boring day ever,
it was the most waste-time day of all.
we spent the entire day registering ourselves into AIIMS.
it took us almost 3hours to settle the payment for school fees,
and took us another 3hours to meet the HOD of surgery,
so that he could allocate us to different surgical teams.

argh, the people here are so inefficient !!
and it can get rather frustrating at times !
oh well, that is how the system in india works.

oh yes, the weather in india is extremely HOT now !!
its 43degrees here !
its like walking in an oven, super suffocating,
i bathe at least 2times a day, no choice !!

anywae, here are some pictures we took yesterdae !
after touring don's mansion, we decided to drive out to meet dehan and jianbang.
it was their last day in new delhi,
before they head up to manali for another 4weeks of hospital posting.

since there were 8 of us, excluding the driver,
poor mimi, jenica and amanda had to sit in the boot.

thats their punishment for being small and skinny girls.
hee.

first stop was the indian gate,
and den we headed off to sarogini market to jalan jalan !

the indian people can get quite scary at times.

they just follow you non-stop, bugging you to buy their stuffs,

and even after you tell them "NOT INTERESTED" x 10 million times,

they still follow you around, bugging you to buy it !!

super hardsell man !

and they love their spices !

everywhere we went, there was spice shop.

our first meal in india was at an india fast food restaurant,

it was recommended by don's younger brother,

supposed to be clean enough for first timers to india to consume.

the food was pretty decent and really affordable !

next stop, we visited the hospital that dehan did his 4weeks of posting in.

the hospital was super old and run down,

althou its supposed to be a government hospital,

the place was really old, dirty and pathetic.

i dunno if there were a shortage of beds,

but there were many patients/random people lying along the corridor.

nevertheless, it was a real eye-opener !

after the hospital visit, we went to visit the boy's hostel room.

it was really bad compared to the ones we have at don's place.

hee.

dehan and jianbang treated us to yummy fruits !!

they discovered a fruit called musk melon !

its like a mix between rock melon and honeydew,

and i must say, its really good :)

we ended up eating up all their melons !!

last stop, back to don's place for dinner before sending dehan and jianbang off.

because dehan and jianbang were heading up to manali for their rural hospital posting,

they requested to have a normal chinese dinner before they leave,
and don's mum prepared a yummy buffet spread for us !!

and guess what !

don packed 50 char siew paos in his suitcase from singapore, for his parents !!

they specially heat up 4 pork buns for dehan and jianbang

india has been really fun so far !

char, mellow, xuel, kristal and ryan came to send us off !
we had a really yummy dim sum meal at crystal jade before we left !

we flew MAS, and i puked like hell on the plane.
as you know, i hate airplane food because the smell sucks.
den it was super turbulent, so ended up puking.

anywae, don's dad is the high commission of singapore to india !
and so, we're staying with his family, in the embassy of singapore.
his house is really nice and BIG !!

i love the ducks in his house !!

rachel and i baked pretzels over the weekend.
we were inspired by this picture in the recipe book.
unfortunately, our pretzels did not turn out as good.
but it was still yummy as ever,
because its full of vitamin L.
L for LOVE.
just like how xiaozhang used to say.

we used flour, sugar, yeast, butter,
and most importantly, the coolbeans kitchenaid machine !

yes, as you can see, we were really bad at making the pretzel shapes.

char's one was the BIGGEST, rachel's one got bad skin, and mine is small,

we made other designs too.

i made the shitroll, it tasted great thou.

we added some toppings, just like aunty annes.

we made sugar cinimmon pretzels.

and garlic and herb pretzels.

oh, baking is fun.

my precious mother of all bunnies is recovering very well.

look, this were her horrific pressure sores.
pictures taken bout 1-2months ago.and i'm very pleased to announce now that all her sores has healed completely !!

only problem now is that her legs are still weak,
it had definitely gotten stronger since her accident,
but its still weak :(

i wann to make the "white lover" biscuit from hokkaido !!

anywae, here's the recipe.

ingredient for biscuit,

(A)100g sugar, 90g butter

(B)2 egg white

(C)85g plain flour

ingredient for white chocolate cream,

100g Shortening

40g Icing sugar

200g Melted chocolate

Method

1. Beat (A) till creamy and fluffy，

add (B) well mix till shiny，

Then add in sifted (C)，mix well.

2. Put the mixture in step 1 into a piping bag，

snooze out into rectangular shape of 6 X 5 CM。

bake at 160 for 10min or golden brown.

Cool it before serving.

3. To make white chocolate cream:

Mix shortening and icing sugar till fluffy，

add in melted white chocolate and mix well.

4. Place the white chocolate cream in between the 2 pcs of biscuit

and, my grandma has finally decided to come live with us after her discharge,
she had always been resistant to that idea,
because she wanted to live in the house she shared with my grandpa.
thankgoodness she realised that its not safe to live alone anymore.

hmm,
minus the fact that she keeps telling me how they used to eat bunnies,
and that rabbit meat is very smooth and yummy !
i really do like having my grandma around.

we made tasty fried prawn fritters and oreo cheesecake last night. it turned out lovely and my mum loved it !

we got this recipe from the internet !
first, we striped the oreo biscuits of its inner filling.
and den crush it up and mix in some butter.

next, add half a can of condensed milk to the cream cheese,

and mix it up with an electrical mixer !

oh yar, keep some crushed oreo cookies so that you can mix it into the cheese mixture.

next, prepare the oreo base !!

press the oreo crumbs onto the bottom of the metal tin,

then, add the cheese mixture in and keep it in fridge over night to allow it to solidify.

yay !

dinner last night was really good !
i met my favourite st nicks girls for dinner at The French Stall. i read about it in the newspapers,
and alwaes wanted to try out the french food there.
the service there was pretty decent, except for the rude boss in yellow.
the food was yummy and very affordable.
and the company was awesome !!

i realised that i've known the st nicks girls for more than a decade !!
maybe its because we've known each other for so many years,
though we dun meet up as often as before, because everyone's so busy these days,
when we do meet up, we just click so well and have so much fun together.
its really fantastic !
oh, i love my girls so :)

yay !

we had yummy cupcakes that char and dennis baked.

then, some yummy onion soup, garlic bread, white-wine mussels,
garlic-butter escargot, and foie gras ! last night was the first time i tried foie gras,

and i must say, its yummy :)
toon and gang said that the foie gras was really good and cheap !

for mains, char had pork chops, and i had lamp chops.
toon and laurene had steak and mellow had salmon.

yums :)

and last but not least, dessert !!

the chocolate cake was yums, the cheesecake was ok.

next stop, to gelare for waffle ice cream !!

and yayness anus, because i received my birthdae candles and presents !!

i specially requested for cool beans candles because 23 is my favourite number !!

hee, jaq's right.

yes indeed, double happiness because of that,

and triple happiness because i get to celebrate it with my most beloved friends :)

i missed my own birthdae celebration at botanic gardens yesterday,
because naughty Hammy had a mini emergency !!
her hindleg power has been improving, and her pressure sores are healing well,
and she decided that she wanted to get out of her bed to play with Tissue.
and she ended up getting herself a new sore.

Tissue is Hammy's husband, he's the father of all rabbits,
sweetest bunny husband of all time, he's been staying upstair to accompany her,
while she recovers from her paralysis and sores.
despite Hammy's bad temper, he was alwaes around for her,
he grooms Hammy whenever she allows him to.
and everynight, he'll lies on the tiles beside her bed to accompany her to sleep.
because she doesnt allow him onto her precious waterbed with faux sheepskin bedsheet.
what a sweet honey bun :)

we sent Hammy to the clinic,
and she had to shave the fur off her buttocks to facilitate wound care.

the sore looks painful right?

thank goodness Hammy is super hardy bunny !!

by the time we were done with Hammy's clinic + acupuncture session,

the party at botanic garden was over !

but we decided to stay at botanic gardens for a little while,

to let Tissue and Hammy enjoy the grass !!

the bunnies were really eggcited to go to botanic gardens,

they had a great time with dennis and char previously.

they got me a yummy chocolate birthdae cake !!

it was all melissaSLOW's idea !!

she wanted to surprise me at midnight,

and roped in kermin, char, jiayang and KaThy !!

and they were really sneaky !!

i was with char in the afternoon, and with jiayang & gang in the evening,

and i really did not have a clue !!

ok, i thought jiayang and char were behaving very sneakily,

but yes, they still managed to surprise me !!

oh thankyouverymuch :)

and thanks to my brother and sister too !!

they both helped melissaSLOW and gang !

and look at the yums cupcakes char and dennis made !!

char and dennis actually makde it for the party at botanic garden,

too bad we missed it and did not managed to give them to the others.

but at least, the boys and girls at renjun's house managed to have a taste of it,

and they loved it many many !

thursday was a really fun day !
jiayang, char, melissaSLOW and i met up,
and we celebrated easter eve by making lemon sorbet !!
we also had yums dinner at chomps,
and play guitar heroes and cookie-mahjong !
cookie mahjong because we used cookies instead of chips,
the biggest loser have to bake cookies for the rest of us.

here's some pictures from the makings of the lemon sorbet.
you wont see any pictures of jiayang here,
because that horrid boy was busy playing guitar heroes instead of helping us !!

here's us posing with our many many many lemons !!

first step was to make lemon rind and measure out the sugar,
rinding looked really easy but its really tough.
we had to take turns doing it, and our biceps/triceps were damn tired after that.
and den, squeeze the lemons to get lemon juice !!!

when the lemon rind, sugar and lemon juice are ready,

prepare a pot of boiling water and pour the sugar and lemon rind in !!

cool down the mixture, add lemon juice and freeze !!

happy smiles from the happy girls,

while jiayang continues to play guitar heroes !!

next, prepare some egg white and beat it up till fluffy !!
when the mixture starts to become slushy, take it out and mix in the egg white !!

yay !

this is our tangy lemon sorbet !!

why?

why am i so tired these day?
maybe because i've to wake up at 643am every morning.
and i'll only be done with school by 5pm or later.
plus damn alot of reading.
yes indeed, i've been very hardworking lately.

this is the second posting that required us to attend the morning rounds.
and i'm totally suffering here.
my wardrounds typically start at 830am and end at 1230pm.
really crazy, the patient load here is scary !!
we had new admissions yesterday, we ended rounds at 130pm.

this is terrible for my sole !
everyday, i return home with sore feet,
standing for almost 8hours daily is a killer !!

tired tired tired.

hohohoh.
i doubt wengo would read this because she'll be in school,
so i shall publish this now !!!

char, pat and i baked wengo a birthdae cake todae.
it is a chocolate fudge cake with pretty cool icing.
we attempted to make her a mahjong tile inspired birthdae cake.
ok, the idea was great, the end-product not so good,
but overall, still very satisfying :)

the cake icing part was the most difficult,
so i'll just go over the baking cake part quickly.
mix the flour, butter, eggs, chocolate powder to get the chocolate cake mixture,
next pop it into the oven for bout 25-30mins.
unfortunately, we beat the mixture too hard,
the cake become a volcano, so we had to chop off the top.
and then, we sliced it into a mahjong tile shape.

while poor kerly was busy spreading chocolate fugde on the first layer of the cake,
char and pat couldnt resist playing with the remaining cake,
they used the cookie cutter to cut the cake into cutesie shapes.

yay !
our chocolate fudge cake with lots of chocolate fudge in between !

here's the fun/tough part,
we made blue icing for the base of the mahjong tile.

we ran out of blue icing halfway so we had to make more more more.
crazy pat added so much blue dye and the blue was too dark.
so we had to re-paint the whole cake.
when we were done with the sides, we started on the top.
it was supposed to be white.
but it was really difficult to avoid mixing the blue and white icing.
finally, to add the chinese character for the majong tile.
we decided to make it "HE" as in wengo's surname !
yay !
i'm so proud of my creation.
not the nicest looking chocolate fudge cake,
but A for effort and creativity right?

this morning, i thot it was going to be good day,
but she killed it during breakfast.

after hearing the good news about Hammy,
rem Dr Oh said he was sure Hammy would start walking in 2months time?
well, todae during Hammy's acupuncture session,
he said "Hammy will be hopping around in 2weeks time"
fantastic news, the best thing i've heard all day.
but she killed it during the car ride out for dinner.

having dinner at a pretty nice steak house,
enjoying our food, and each other's company,
but she killed it again.

and again, and again, and again.
pretty much on a daily basis.
really terrible.
maybe i really do hate her.

i need to be more financially independent, so that i can move out.
or maybe..
i shud get someone to hire me as part-time maid in exchange for a free place to stay.

yes indeed !
Hammy's vet, Dr Oh Soon Hock is a damn good vet/doctor.
i totally trust him with Hammy.

i was telling toester about Dr Oh todae,
and guess what !!
he was toester's mum's ex-classmate.
they had a dinner gathering once,
and Dr Oh did not touch his dinner at all !
not because he wasnt hungry, or picky with food,
but because there was a long queue of classmates,
waiting to get free acupuncture treatment from him.
he's just damn zai lah.

and you know,
if i had met him earlier, like in jc days or something,
i probably would have applied to do vet science or TCM instead.
he's really very inspirational.
he's really nice and i like him very much.
and i really hope that Hammy is able to regain mobility again !

and yes, i must tell you about evil charmaine ng yu ling.

as you know, because of Hammy's paralysis,
she has been unable to stand up and pee.
and because of that, we often found her lying in her pool of urine.
which, in my opinion, might have contributed to her first pressure sore.

so anywae, we started Hammy on a bladder re-training programme.
we do this daily, at a 4hour interval,
we would carry her to the pet litter and massage her bladder to induce her to pee.
its been 3 weeks since we started this exercise,
and i must say, Hammy is doing very well.
she is able to keep her urine in,
and when its time, we massage her bladder and she pees, almost on cue.
it is a really good thing because she no longer soils herself these days.

yesterday,
of all time, char decided to bring Hammy to the vet at 330pm.
they were on the way home at 4pm,
it must be the bumpy car ride of something but..
Hammy ended up peeing in my car.

and then, i visited Hammy around 730pm,
char put Hammy on my yummy and insisted i pat her,
at 745pm,
kerly: ok, i'm sleepy, dun wanna play with Hammy anymore.
char: but she looks so comfy now. why dun you pat her somemore?
kerly:ok.
at 8pm, Hammy peed on me.
i dunno whether char plotted that or not.
but yes indeed, char is horrid !!

many friends and family tried my choc ice cream over the weekend,
there was char's mum, rachel, sean, my mum, and kermin,
and there was mimi, diana, xuel and ryan.
and happiness is my name,
because they loved it and said it was yummy.
mimi loved it so much that she took many many servings.
hohohooh.

i'm so pleased with myself.
i'm going to try other flavours,
xuel, ryan and mimi suggested i shud make durian ice cream.
hahahahha.
poor wengo would have to bring her N95 mask when she visits.

talking bout wengo,
i'm so glad that wengo and jiayang are back.
now we can discuss and plan our india trip,
hee, my regular mahjong kakis are finally back.
yay !

i bought myself a new camera, its the Sony T70.
its a coolbean touch-screen camera.
its really nice, i love it !!
it has double anti-blur, yes you saw right, double !!
and they allow you to modify your pics and save it in the camera.
modify as in, add in silly words and cutesie icons etc.
hohohooh, i really like my new camera.

i completed a sudoku puzzle all by myself last night.
difficulty level 5 leh.
its my first time, big achievement ok !
hahahahha.

todae was first day of posting for me.
really damn xiong, compared to the last posting.
the morning ward round ended at 1230pm,
my tutor gave us a 30mins break before meeting us for tutorial at 1pm.
and we had 2 impromptu tutorials with the ward doctors after that.
the 2 tutorials were not just 10-20mins discussion sessions,
they were both more than an hour long sessions.
super hardcore, i'm going to be damn zhng at the end of this month man.
hahahhaa.

naughty hammy peed in my car todae.
prior to that, she made cocopops (bunny poop) on char's bed.
she's such a naughty bunny,
but i love her so.
i cant help but kiss her all the time.
and she gives me lovebites in exchange.
lovebites = she literally bites me until i bleed.
my arms are full of scars now !

the acupuncture therapy has been sucking us dry.
just paid an extra $100 for 100g of her herbal medicine.
but its showing some results,
now she is able to stand up on her own,
and can amubulate in a very slow fashion.

the therapist is very very very confident,
that hammy will be able to walk again in 2months time.
i'm pleasantly surprised by his confidence.
dear hammy, pls get well soon :)

hammy's acupuncture therapist is a super zai and famous vet.
he treated all the famous animals in our zoo, ie: ah meng
and he's so super zai that he gives lectures to our doctors too,
teaching them TCM and acupuncture therapy on humans.
he is also a professor teaching at NTU,
and has damn alot of students under his wings.
oh, i'm really impressed by him.

oh happiness is my name !!
char and i made chocolate ice cream last night.
we feared that it was going to fail miserably,
because we did not have an ice cream maker.
but surprisingly, it was edible,
and in fact, quite creamy, chocolatey and yummy.
hohohooh, i'm so pleased with myself.

and because it is really nice and yums,
i'm going to teach you guys how to make it.
hee.

and its really cheap too.
we calculated that we spent $6 in total,
and made 2tubs of ice cream.
and we even had left over ingredients to make more !

we actually got our ice cream recipe from allrecipe.com
diana recommended this website because the instructions were clear and simple,
and the dishes always turn out rather sucessful.
and i love allrecipe.com because they love rabbits too,
look at their website logo !
hee.

so here's what you need for the chocolate ice cream
1 can (14 ounces) of condensed milk
1cup (half can) of light cream/evaporated milk
2cups of whipping cream
2/3 cup of cocoa powder
1 tablespoon of vanilla extract

first, prepare the cream part.
mix the whipping cream, evaporated milk and vanilla extract.

next, to cook the condensed milk and cocoa powder mixture.
cook the condensed milk in a saucepan over medium heat,
add in the cocoa powder and stir vigourously until well mixed.
remove after 5-10mins, when the mixture starts to thicken.

when the mixture has cooled sufficiently,
add in the cream and blend until well mixed.

yay !

we are done !!

you can pour your ice cream into little tubs and freeze it.

rem to freeze it for at least 6hours before trying.

oh, my ice cream rocks !!

all are welcomed to try my ice cream this weekend !!

1. my nose is blocked, and starting to be leaky.
2. i got sore throat and maybe losing my voice.
3. i keep sneezing, it scares the buns.
4. i am feeling the pinch now, spent $220 on Ham's vet fees yesterday.
5. that is $260 worth of medical expense in 5days.
6. char and i are going to be very broke and depressed soon.
7. only Ham's recovery can cheer us up.
8. i hate irritating people who tell me that Ham is not worth the money.
9. to me, Hams is worth every penny i spend.
10. Hams developed a new sore.
11. to save money, i've opted to let it heal by secondary intention.
12. she better stop developing sores,
13. or i'll have to bring home an alternating pressure mattress soon.
14. i've not been spending time with my boys.
15. cookie takes revenge by biting all the wires in my house.
16. tv cable half gone, new sofa damaged, hairdryer and laptop charger rescused in time.
17. cookie is going to electrocute himself to death one day.
18. i have irritating parents who ask me idiotic question, and refuse to believe my answer.
19. ie: mummy: side effects of steriod cream = abnormal hair growth? can i apply it to my scalp?
20. ie: papa: i'm taking multivits now, can i continue to drink 2 bottles of beer every night?
21. maybe i really suck at COFM.
22. i've a horrid brother who lost alot of our family savings on stocks & shares.
23. my mum alone, lost $10k from the stocks he got her.
24. i'm down 4% from my principle.
25. i'm giving him 12month to bring it back to principle value.
26. but i'm really scared that i'll lose everything by next year.
27. i'm too slack at my elective posting for my own good.
28. but i really hate paeds.
29. why did i torture myself by doing paeds again?

31. i'm missing my regular mahjong kakis who are away on elective.

i must admit, i'm addicted to wahjong on viwawa. look at my fabulous cards !

vern came over after lunch at st nicks yesterdae,
and we played viwawa on the laptop side by side.
we couldnt help but cheat because we could see each other's card

this afternoon, mellow came over after lunch at st nicks.
i started a viwawa account for her.
and we did the same thing too.
we joined forces against the mattytey AGAIN.
hee.

char has been feeling rather depressed lately,
thats because her bank account is almost empty !!
we took all the receipts, did the maths,
and calculated that we really did spend ALOT on Hammy !!

since the beginning of the year till now, we have spent $550 on her.
but thats on her medical bills alone, we havent factor in other expenditure.
plus, with her $85 per session acupuncture therapy which takes place twice aweek,
we're going to be more broke than ever.

wah, and i realised we spent ALOT on other Hammy-related items,
like her waterbed which we have replaced once over,
because she bit the bed to death, and caused all the water to leak out.
and the millions of towel we bought to cushion the water bed,
to prevent her from biting the waterbed to death again,
as well as to absorb her urine whenever she's too lazy to pee at the proper place.
the faux sheepskin as bedsheet to allow her to glide her buttocks all around the bed,
preventing another pressure sore from developing.
and the raw materials we got, to build her a wheelchair !

oh, my Hammy is like a princess, and char and i are her poor slaves.
we're her driver, fetching her to the vets at least 2times aweek.
we're her physiotherapist, exercising her legs 3times a day.
we're her nurse, washing her wound daily and feeding her the medicine.
we're her personal maid, cleaning up after her everyday.
but i tell you, its all worth it.
because we really love our Hammylou ALOT !!

in more Hammy news,
she just started acupuncture therapy on saturday.
the therapy session was really interesting.
the vet inserted multiple needles into various spots on her body.
and during the 20mins therapy session,
Hammy made mulitple funny leg movements and twitches.
the vet said that she was responsing pretty well to the treatment.
but sickeningly, as soon as the vet took out the needles,
her leg movements and twitches totally STOPPED.
like zero, nothing, no movement at all !!

most patients make most progress during the first 2months after their accident,
and because its only been a month since her escape/accident,
we're going to send her for intensive therapy to increase the chances of recovery.
oh, i really hope Hammy recovers !!

in baking news,
char and i tried the near impossible.
we tried to make cream puffs.
you know, the ones they sell at beard papa.
but it was too high standard already,
we failed miserably.

next baking project,
a birthdae cake for wengo's 23rd birthdae.
i've gotten the necessary ingredient already.
i cant wait to start baking !!
i think its going to be awesome !
yums.

and because i've been spending so much time at char's place,
i dint even have time to get her any birthdae present.
so i decided to get her a birthdae cake,
but i dint wanna give it to her just like that.
if not, its not special at all..
i mean, she's my bestfriend afterall.
so i ZHNG-ED the birthdae cake.

today, char and i made lemon meringue pie :)
oh, i must say that mrs huang would be so proud of us.
she alwaes said that she wanted her st nicks baobeis to be,
"jing de liao chu fang, chu de liao ting tang"
and i think char and i will make pretty decent housewives next time :)
yay !

and i think mrs huang would be even more delighted to know that,
the recipes that we have been using for our baking creations,
are all taken from the st nicks cook book !

here's how we made our pie.
there's three main steps.
1 - make the pie crust
2 - make the lemon custard filling
3 - make the coolbeans meringue

first, mix in some flour, suger, butter and water.

when it is all nice and doughy, flatten out the dough.
because we couldnt find the rolling pin, we used a plastic cup instead.

when the dough is nicely flattened onto the baking tray,
throw it into the oven to bake for 20mins until golden brown !
be sure to make a crust with TALL sides,
so that the custard fillings wont leak out at the sides.
when the crust and nicely baked, leave it out to cool down,
while we start on our custard filling.
you are highly recommended to start with the custard only after the crust is done,
that is because the custard solidifies really quickly.
also, it gets burnt really easily too.
to make the lemon custard,
mix a bowl of castor suger, fresh milk and flour.
next, heat it over medium fire until it starts to thicken.

when the mixture thickens,

add in 2 egg yolks and a cup of freshly squeezed lemon juice.

be sure to stir the mixture VIGOROUSLY,

because the yolk and lemon juice causes the mixture to thicken much more quickly.

poor mixing will produce an awfully lumpy custard.

and when you're satisfied with the mixing,

pour the yummy lemon custard onto the crispy crust !!

now, we can start on the meringue :)

using an electric mixer, whisk egg whites with a tablespoon of sugar,

until the mixture becomes nice and fluffy !!

and then you can spread it onto the custard.

next, pop the pie into the oven and bake for 5mins,

until the edges of the meringue turn nice and brown :)

oh, another successful creation by char and kerly :)

char's family tried it and loved it.

i cant wait to show it off to my mum and sister tomorrow !!

my grandma was diagnosed with cataracts last week,
4 days later, she's done with surgery on her right eye.
she waiting for her right eye to recover before getting her left eye done.
she's staying with us now, because its too not safe to have her stay alone.
my aunty who stays with her is alwaes out at work,
so its better to stay with one of us,
because we have a maid at home to care for her.

my grandma is damn cute.
before she decided on who's house to stayover at,
she visited all of us, and lay on the beds to test-sleep.
and she finally chose my brother's bed.

spent alot of time with my grandma today.
she made me watch the video of her cataract surgery.
i think its really cool that private hospitals video-records the surgery,
and let the patient keep a DVD copy of it.

my grandma was really pleased with herself for surviving the surgery.
and i felt really smart,
because everyone was like "ouch !! what is the doctor doing?"
and then i'll be like "oh yes, he's doing this because blahblahblah.."
very good for the ego indeed !

i'm so going to be broke in a few months time.
so many things to buy and pay for, and money always not enough.
i need to win lottery !
oh, someone give me some divine numbers NOW !!

here's why.

1. Graham NEEDS her accupunture therapy session
accupunture therapy is gaining popularity in Singapore.
its a fantastic alternative to invasive surgery for pets,
it is non-invasive, so less risk like anaesthetic reaction, bleeding, infection.
plus with so many pet owners sending their pets for therapy,
there has been many studies, research and development in this area of therapy,
and results have been encouraging.
of course, results depends on the initial severity of the pet's injury.
but my vet said that some paralysed pets had been successfully treated,
and have regain almost normal hind limp movement.

but non-invasive treatment comes with an expensive price tag,
a therapeutic session cost $80 per 30mins of treatment,
each session lasts for 30-60mins depending on requirement.
and most pets require at least 10-15 therapy sessions to show results.
plus, there are some pre-treatment diagnostic imaging and investigations to be done.

i think its going to cost me $1000-1500 in total,
char and i are going to spilt the cost.
so thats about $500 per person.
ouch.

2. I NEED a camera
both of my sony T3 died on me,
and my sister's camera sucks.
i need a camera before i fly off to India !
no camera = no fun in foreign land,
so it is a MUST !!
so thats another $500 plus/minus gone.
ouch.

3. I NEED a laptop to bring along for the India trip
my dad gave me a $2000 budget,
but i really dunno what laptop to get.
and i think its quite waste money to get a laptop just because of the trip.
ouch.

4. I WANT my CK element watch
i went shopping with mellow yesterday,
i showed her the watch that i've been eyeing.
she and i tried it on, and it was absolutely lovely.
my love for the watch is once again renewed.

plus there is a 10% discount on that watch now,
so its $460 now, down from $510.
mellow loves it so much, she's getting it too.
we're going to have same same watches again !
yay !!

in baking news,
char and i made chocolate mousse.
i think its pretty darn good for beginners like us.
even my mum, who is super damn niao about food,
commented that the chocolate mousse was yummy and good.

here's what we used.
whipping cream, 3eggs, some sugar, and baking chocolates.

first, whisk the whipping cream until it becomes whipped cream.
it becomes really nice and fluffy.
i dunno if we could actually used ready-made whipped cream,
thats why we just bought whipping cream, as stated in the recipe.

next, prepare the eggs.
add 3 tablespoons of suagr and beat it up until creamy and even.

in the meanwhile,

prepare the baking chocolate by double-boiling it.

but be careful not to over boil it !!

we did not know that an overboiled chocolate turns into a hard mass which is unusable,

so we had to throw away the first batch of baking chocolate.
when the chocolate is warm and melted,

add it into the sugar, egg mixture and beat it till creamy and smooth.

next, add in the whipping cream.

and viola, we have our very own chocolate mousse !!

remember to chill it in the fridge for at least 3-4hours,

until it has solidify before trying it !

i havent been blogging much because i've been busy with Graham.
been spending so much time with her,
even Cookie and Raisin are jealous.
when they smell Graham's scent on me, they will get angry and shun me :(
thankgoodness, bunnies are easily bought over with sweet treats.

Graham has been doing very well.
she's been really active all these while, eating and pooping well too.
plus she is finally cooperative when it comes to her meds.

unfortunately, despite our best efforts,
she developed another pressure sore on the opposite side of her bum :(

we gave her a super thick bed - multiple towels with a water beds underneath,
and even used pillows to prop her into neutral -resting position,
but because of the weakness in her hindlegs,
she inevitably flops back onto her sides.
plus she would bite the supportive pillows and push them away.

but now with painful sores on both sides,
she's more cooperative and sits quietly between the pillows.

i heard that sheepskin is a really good material for preventing pressure sores.
but sheepskin is really expensive !
anyone know where to get cheap sheepskin?

we also made everything more accessible for her.
she has her own bowl of water, pellets, carrots and hay within mouth's reach.
all she needs to do is to stick her head into either bowl and start eating !!

this is her pressure sore which is granulating well.
we're waiting for her scab to dry up and drop off.
yes indeed, it looks bad and painful.
poor baby.

recently, i made friends with a japanese engineer.
he and his wife adopted a disabled rabbit called LingLing.
similar to Graham, LingLing is paralysed waist down,
and is only able to move around by drag herself with her front paws.

Don, the jap guy, made LingLing a wheelchair.
it is really cool!!
now, LingLing is able to run around and play with the other rabbits at home.

Don's really nice, he taught me how to make Graham a wheelchair too.
and thats why i've been even busier than usual,
must take care of hammy plus run all over the island,
finding the different parts necessary for the construction of the wheelchair.

not only that, he taught me alot on caring for a disabled rabbit.
ie: 4hourly scheduled bladder massage, to express Graham's urine,
this is to prevent her from soiling herself,
and also, to prevent skin infection from prolonged exposure to the acidic urine

oh, i cant wait to make Graham her very own wheelchair too !

i went back to st nicks for lunch last week.

and i must say, i really miss the food there !

plus it is really cheap too.

all thanks to our ex-principal, mrs huang :)

when mrs huang was the xiaozhang,

she made sure that the canteen stall rental was low.

she charged the hawkers $2 a month for rental.

why so cheap?

cheap because she made a deal with them.

they get to enjoy cheap rental as long as they promise not to sell unhealthy snacks & fried food.

also, because the rental was so cheap,

the hawkers could sell their food to students cheaply too.

which is absolutely perfect for us,

we get cheap, yummy and healthy food !

yes indeed, mrs huang really loved us so :)
oh, i love mrs huang & st nicks food so much !

i've been spending alot of time watching tv these days,
most of the shows are cooking/baking programmes.
and i love it !

and when i'm not watching tv,
i'll be online, searching for new baking/cooking recipes.
hahahhaha.
yes indeed, very excessive, very crazy.

anywae, i cannot help but notice that everyone uses KitchenAid.
the KitchenAid products are damn good !
not only are they very stylish, they are designed for multi-uses too !!

i checked out the price of a KitchenAid mixer bowl at Tangs.
and the price ranges from S$900 to over $1000 !!
oh crazyness to the max.

and what's more horrifying,
my cousin from malaysia, recently picked up baking.
and she asked my dad to help her buy the KitchenAid mixer.
so there's one sitting in my house now.
bah, so jealous :(

anywae, char and i made cupcakes.
here's the recipe.

first, mix an equal amount of sugar and butter.

next, beat up 2 eggs, and add it into the mixture.

when its nice and smooth, add in some self-raising flour.

in a meanwhile, prepare some chocolate for the cupcakes !

you can either chop them up into huge bits.

or grate it into finer bits.

we love chocolates, so we did both !!
to get a very chocolatey cupcake !

once the mixture is nice and creamy,
add in the chocolates !!

next, prepare the cupcake trays !!

pop the cupcakes into the oven to bake !
it takes about 15-20mins to bake,
you should check on the cupcakes time to time,
to make sure its not burnt !
allow the cupcakes to cool for about 15-20mins first,

before packing them into pretty little bags,
for our beloved friends and family. yay !

i watched sweeney todd. did not know that it was a musical,
so, totally did not expect so much singing,
and nearly died because the show was so SLOW.
argh.

i like musicals.
but the show was quite bad i feel.
really did not appreciate the way they sang about every single thing.
i stress, EVERY SINGLE THING !
made the show really SLOW and lame after awhile.
ie: johnny depp sang about his blades for 5 minutes !
and the best part only lasted 5minutes,
because it was all action and no singing!!

oh well.

just read an article about media monitoring via blogs.
yes indeed, alot of BIG companies are doing that now.
i learnt it the scary way.
hahhahaha.

anywae, the new year weekend was really good.
went to malaysia to visit my relatives,
made many home visits,
and best of all, met up with all my dear friends :)

i think one of the highlights was meeting the st nicks girls.
we were one BIG group of friends back in st nicks.
thou we were in different classes,
we were alwaes able to have recess and lunch together,
because the school's timetable was such that everyone gets a break at the same time.

but after we left st nicks,
it was almost close to impossible to meet up as a whole group.
there was alwaes a few that couldnt make it.

and yar i'm glad because for once,
almost everyone made it for reunion dinner yesterday.
we had a great time catching up and gossiping.
and i dun believe that after so many years,
we're still gossipping bout the same few people.
hahahhaha.

oh yes !
we're planning an activity day,
where we meet up to play the games we used to play,
like dog&bone and contact rugby !!
and maybe we'll pick up a new sport - softball !!

yay !
this is so eggciting !

Hammy has been doing very well.

only problem is that she hates her medicines,

and char and Hammy alwaes end up having staring matches.

Hammy loves it too, it allows her to groom her paws more easily.

happy lunar new year everyone.

last night, i shoushui-ed till really late.
to keep myself awake, i went over to bake with rachel and char.

we made muffins, and made some odd-shaped cookies that tasted delicious.

char and i made pizza todae.

the entire pizza, even the dough, was made from stratch.

yay !
we're going to be the perfect housewife.

before i blog on, please pardon us for the super blur pictures.

here's the ingredient.
prego mushroom sauce, mushrooms, pineapple cubes, honey apple ham,
lots of cheese, terriyaki chicken, plain flour and yeast !

first, to make the pizza dough.
sieve the plain flour..

next, mix water, oil and yeast into the flour !

and knead it into this !!after that, let the dough sit until it expands to twice its size.

in the meanwhile, prepare the pizza toppings !!

when the dough has expanded sufficiently, flatten it out into a pizza dough base !!

and now, we can start making our pizza !!

first, add the tomato-based mushroom sauce and some cheese.

add some terriyaki chicken slices!!

add the honey apply ham,

top it off with many many cheese !!

this morning, after her meds and carrot juice,
i checked hammy's bumbum for any poop and pee.
because she's paralysed waist down,
her poops tend to get stuck around her buttock fur.
also, when we're not around to hold her up,
she ends up peeing and having to lie in her pee until we check on her again.

this morning,
i found a huge laceration on her right thigh,
and had to rush her to the vet immediately.

our first impression was "it must be tissue who bit her"
afterall, he's the only other bunnie who stays with her.
but after the vet debrided her wound,
we realised that it was an awfully huge pressure sore.
the wound was terrible.
the entire furry skin layer was gone, exposing her bare flesh.
the wound stretched from one side of her buttock, all the way to the other side.

the vet debrided all the necrotic skin, and stitched back the remaining edges.
but because the skin defect was too large,
she had to leave an area open, leaving it to granulate.

now, we have many more vet appointments and meds, which hammy hates.
but no choice, her wound is bad and we need to change her dressing.
and because its the chinese new year weekend, the clinic would be closed,
so we gotta quickly learn how to change her dressing too.

the vets alwaes say that rabbits heal very fast,
but i dint know that they fall sick super easily and quickly too.
thot that she would only develop those type of sores after a few weeks,
its only been 1week since she got paralysed.
haii.

how i wish i could turn back time.

after feeding hammy, i helped char cook lunch.
we made deep fried batter prawn.

yums.

first, prepare the prawn soaked in egg white.

batter made out of self-raising flour, oil and water.

heat up the oil.

and prepare 2 servings of yummy mayo !

next, throw in the prawns to fry for awhile.
only awhile please, thats to cook the prawns.

take them out and drip dry, before throwing them in again.
this time, to make the batter really cripsy !!

oh, our deep fried batter prawns looks really yummy :)

before eating, first pose with your pokey dottey chopsticks,

then, dip into the yummy mayo.

and pop it into your mouth !

yay !

wah, i know this is quite a delayed realization.
late because i've been locked up studying for the past months.
but i must say, the petrol price are crazy !!

a full tank of petrol on my bike used to cost $8,
now its $10, thats 25% more !!
i dun dare to even count how much more it would cost for a car !!

and because of the petrol price hike,
i had to do a kerjyn.

i've been using the silver car for the past week,
when the tank was almost empty,
instead of pumping it up,
i parked it at home and used mr march instead.
hohohoho.
yes i know, very sneaky indeed !!

anywae, chinese new year is in 6 days time.
this is terrible, i seriously need to lose weight.
i've been feeling fat and flabby,
and even sister dear thinks i'm fat now.
so sad, i need to go on a diet.
this time, its serious !!

you know, chinese new year is the time where you meet your aunties,
i dunno if they have super low EQ, or that they just enjoy making you feel like crap,
eh, this year you very fat hor.. or wah, so much pimples now hor..
sickening, i must start dieting now now now !!

i keep planning to go on a diet,
but it alwaes gets thwarted by invites to buffets and supper.
but this time its serious.
no buffets, suppers, and hokkien mee please !!
and if you invite me to such unhealthy meal,

its almost becoming a routine now.
ok, its only been 6 days since we sent her to the vet but..
i think i'm getting used to this now.
first thing i do every morning is to check on Hammy.
and if i'm not tired, i'll check on her again at night.

i must say that things are getting better now.
for one, char and i are getting better at caring for Hammy,
so its really good.
we've been reading up on articles like how to care for your disabled pet,
and its been really useful.
plus we're kinda getting used to seeing Hammy like this,
so its not as heartbreaking as before.

and best of all, Hammy's been really strong all this time,
so it makes things much easier for us too.
minus the medicine taking part, Hammy's been really cooperative,
so its really pretty good.

i really hope Hammy gets well soon,
ok, i must be realistic, i hope Hammy's condition doesnt get worst.

and oh yes, i wanna make her a little skateboard,
so that she can rest her tummy on it and move around faster,
without having to drag herself around.
plus, there would be lesser chance of her soiling herself.

in the beginning, it was really terrible.
Hammy's accident happened on saturday, just 2days before my exams,
i took time off studying to take her to the emergency department,
and spent the rest of the evening playing with her..
but i couldnt stay for long because i had to go home and study.

i must say that, that was one of the worst time of my life.
on one hand, i had to worry about passing my pros,
on the other, i was super worried for Hammy and char.

and poor char.
after i left, she had to care for Hammy on her own,
when she had problems, she couldnt call me,
because she knew i had to study for my exams, and dint wanna make me worried.
wad a poor worm.

aiya, and we were 2 really silly girls.
both very sad and worried for Hammy,
but pretended to be very optimistic and happy in front of each other.
not till i read her blog and found out that she's been crying over it too,
den i realised that,
oh, so i'm not the only lame one that has been crying secretly. char also lor.
yar, i was super sad but dint wanna blog bout it,
because i knew that char would read it and become even sadder.
so silly.

but anywae, we're going to be strong girls now !!
no more onions and garlics on our bedsheets !
and we'll take care of Hammy to the bestesty best we can do !!
hohohoohh.

everyone must think that i'm damn happy now,
now that the exams are finally over.
but sadly, i'm not.

as most of my good friends already know,
graham met with an accident on saturday.
we had to rush her to the emergency department.
but couldnt send her for any treatment,
because the MRI of her head alone is $800,
and even if we were able to find the cause,
we dun have enough money to send her for an operation.
haii.

poor graham is paralysed, in both her hind legs,
she's been a really strong girl.
but seeing her drag herself around the house really kills me.
and because she cant stand to pee or shit,
she'll hold it in until we come home to carry her up,
so that she'll be able to pee/shit.

yesterdae, after the paper, i came home late.
graham waited for me until she couldnt keep it in anymore,
she tried to pass motion on her own,
and ended by getting herself soiled.
you know, i felt so bloody terrible and guilty.
haii.

its really painful seeing someone you love so much,
getting hurt and struggling like that.
haii.
